Skeptics in the Pub is a group of people in Essex who like to listen and engage with a range of interesting topics, have a drink and take part in discussion.
Like similar events in many other cities, we hope to hold a talk by a speaker each month who will speak for around 40 minutes. The subject of the talks varies across a wide variety of topics and speakers can include anything from science, politics, ghost hunters to historians. The aim of the event is to provide a relaxed space for individuals to engage with a topic, preferably controversial.
The event usually includes a drink before the main presentation / talk, followed by another trip to the bar, a Q&A session and an informal discussion, with the aim of opening up dialogue between audience members and the speaker.
It does not matter what your prior beliefs are on these subjects. We welcome all and only ask that you help keep it a fun and friendly event.
We are always keen to hear from potential speakers, so please visit the Contact Us page should you wish to speak at one of our events. This is a great opportunity for those already engaged in public speaking and particularly for those looking to start or improve their speaking skills. We provide a friendly relaxed forum for you to enhance your skills.

It does not matter what your prior beliefs are on these subjects. If you want to defend your beliefs and think skepticism is misplaced, then this is the evening for you. Have fun. We welcome all.
